I was at my home church, Poplar Dell Baptist, with my brothers for my Mom's 80th birthday. Randy, Class of '75, and I walked through the cemetary to Dr. Pepper's grave. He was a good kid. Although older than me, we road motorcycles together with my brother, Barry, Dewayne Killiam, and others. He seemed to get all the good toys. Remember Starsky and Hutch...he had the striped tomato. Always had diabetes and would try to get us to sneak him things but the stores were onto our game. He had an artistic side and I remember the cars he drew and later he painted cars and big trucks. RIP, Dr. Pepper.
Darryl and myself always rode to school together. Whether it was the old Javelin, the Starsky and Hutch mobile or my Dad's truck. I have a couple vivid memories, one of sitting in class all day waiting on the Police to show up(thankfully it didn't happen) and the other was my Dad finding needles in his truck. I thought I was going to die over that one before I could explain that Darryl was diabetic and that was his needles for his insulin. A lot of good times and memories.
